It's worked out magnificently. Two stumps, one about 12" and the other 24" on the same residential property took about 1/2 hour, including extensive root systems. They were both overgrown ewe shrubs that had been about 35 or 40' high. I think the "chat" on the Woodmills site is a robot. You have to get ...them on the phone. There was a one week delay in the arrival of my grinder. It actually shipped to Philadelphia from a New York City warehouse. I'm not sure what might be going on with that.   So here's my impression: The grinder arrived on a steel pallet with 2 x 4" steel tube runners. The cardboard box was framed with steel angle and slats. I used it with a 1025 FILB with a Curtis Cab that has 18 hp at the rear PTO. It mounted right up without need for any cutting of the PTO shaft that came with the grinder. It is VERY beefy and looks expensive compared to the junk available for rent at HD. The 1025 Deere will raise it 15" from the grade. It is designed to be pulled through a stump. It has 34 brazed carbide chips that remained razor sharp after grinding through buried roots and stumps. The little Deere did get bogged down from time to time in damp clay, but with a hand on the lift while pulling the grinder through, it was easy to avoid a stall by raising it slightly. I left the rear window on the cab and it was good that I did because it chucked wood chips at me. I pulled the sway turn buckles super tight and have Pat's hooks on the draft arms, so to detach the grinder, I had to loosen up everything again.   The Deere would sway on Turf Tires, but nothing scary. The lift height and short wheelbase made it very easy to maneuver the grinder over the stump inches at a time and by hard steering, the grinder moved laterally at shallow angles quite nicely. I would take this arrangement over the side to side hydraulic grinder any time. Sitting sideways in the seat (had to remove the arms from the swivel seat because of the cab), with a gentle left foot on the hydrostatic forward pedal, steering with a suicide knob, it was actually fun watching the chips fly. When the tractor was level, the grinder actually pulled itself through the stump at the rate it liked, with just a little assist here and there on the pedal. No need for extra hoses or hydraulics.   It exceeds my expectations and 18 hp PTO does drive it acceptably.

Janice,   I have used my stump grinder on about 25 stumps before putting it away for the winter.  Emerald Ash borer killed a lot of trees. For my needs the stump grinder works great. All stumps are different and I use different techniques depending on size and hardness. I have a Mahindra 5010 hydrostatic transmission cab tractor. Transmission makes it easier to use grinder and the cab makes it much quieter. I'm very happy with the stump grinder. The simplicity and robustness of the grinder makes it a useful tool for many years to come. Here's some pictures, before and after on a good size ash stump.   Thank you, Randy Newness

I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship that went in to the preparation of the unit for shipping. I have used the stump grinder for about 20 of the 60+ stumps I have to grind on our farm. It has worked as expected without any issues. I am very happy with it so far. The stump grinder is well built and has nice features. Easy to hook up and unhook to my tractor. I am looking forward to many years of use. Thanks, Ed Mininger

Greetings,   About a week ago I took delivery of my new WG24 Stump Grinder...and I am impressed!  Attached are a couple pics immediately following install on my 2012 Mahindra 3540 PST.  This tractor and the grinder seem to be an effective team.  Although I've only started using the WG24, I have cleared 40+ stumps with it already.  It has been put through its paces.  Perhaps most helpful, were your founders videos of describing and using this product.  The videos really helped me shortcut the learning curve.  I'm a very happy camper so far! Many thanks, Dan Bullis

Dear Lori;  I have a Christmas tree farm.  To replant a block of trees there are always some stumps and unsellable trees that need to be cleared out.  The stump grinder provides an efficient system to prep the land for another crop of trees.  The grinder works great mounted to our Massey Ferguson 175.    Thanks.  Ron Van Sciver

I have never regretted the purchase of my stump cutter. I have been thinning my timber and building trails for over 10 years, I have removed between 50 and 100 stumps and only replaced 1 tooth from hitting a small rock. Mowing the trails and thinned timber is much easier without hitting all of those stumps. Also I had 27 ash trees in my yard. I can remove them and the stumps myself now. Only about 8  left. Thank, Map

"What happened to my Stump Grinder? When I got it, it was beautiful, green, shinny, rugged and rearing to go. But after a solid week of grinding now it’s dirty, dusty and in need of good hosing off. More seriously: it’s a great machine that performs beautifully. Well-engineered, well made, and when I had an issue with the delivery people, Lori at Woodland Mills was right there to make sure the situation was resolved to my satisfaction. Thank you Woodland Mills, we’ll do business together again. Ted Bowler, Southern California.”

Brenna, I received my stump grinder and put it to work the same day taking out 2 - 14" pine stumps. I found the set quick and easy including the set up instructions for the drive shaft slip clutch. You will note from the picture and video clip I forwarded you I attached my Woodland Mills Stump Grinder to my tractor through my iMatch rear 3pt coupler. Your mounting locations worked perfectly once I installed the correct size bushings. It's now a very easy on easy off swap out on my 2032 JD utility tractor. I also found that the hydrostatic drive worked really well with your design stump grinder. My machine had plenty of horsepower to drive the grinder, approximately 23.5 PTO HP. Since these pictures were taken I've removed another 12 stumps on my property. The toughest stump was an ash stump; you could tell the difference and it required me to take lighter cuts but it still worked very well and is surprisingly quick. All in all I'm very impressed with the robust design of your product. The heavy duty bearings and heavy gauge guarding are quite impressive. It's a simple design that works very effectively with a hydrostatic utility tractor. Thanks for all your help and follow up in the purchase. I'm now considering purchasing one of your sawmills, trying to decide on the size either the HM126 or HM130. I do like the adjustable blade guide on the HM130 model but the HM126 is probably big enough to support my hobby. Thanks again, Regards, Bill Ulrich

Hi Lori, I'm very happy with the WG24.  My property has a lot of stumps that previous owners never dealt with.  I don't have the time to tackle them all at once so I work at it when I can.  It is the main reason I chose to buy instead of rent.  I appreciate the simplicity of your design and the rugged construction.  Attached are three pictures.  The first is the delivery.  LTL to my home and carried in with my tractor to the barn.  The second is with the WG24 attached to my tractor after my first stump session.  The third is the aftermath.  In a bit over an hour I removed over a dozen stumps ranging in width from five inches to about 12 inches.  Some were very old and rotted others still very hard.  The woods were locust, oak and maple.  I'm in the process of building a dolly for it so I can store it in my barn (concrete floor) like I do my other implements.  I put everything on wheels so I can store things compactly.  The thing came well packaged.  I loved the steel cage.  Not sure what to do with it now.  I'm using the top part as a tool rack for rakes, shovels, etc. at the moment.

Hi Lori, Used the stump grinder quite a bit in the spring, once you figure out the sweet spot it does a great job. Over all we are very satisfied and would recommend the WG24. As far as stump grinding machines go: not expensive, minimal maintenance, easy to change teeth. and minimal storage space. A sweet piece of equipment to have around the farm and some good side money too.

Hi, Lori, The stump grinder arrived in perfect shape on 3/28/17.  I am a welder and metal fab guy.  Very impressed with the shipping crate.  Instructions for set-up were very good. . Wanted to try it on neighbors' 23 hp Kubota because it has Hydro static trans.  That was on 3/29/17 and we haven't taken it off that tractor yet!  One of us uses it every week.  Over 100 stumps (old & new) removed. I have ground up to 20 inch elm and 30 inch pine stumps.  Just have to take it slow on the big ones. Hydro static trans tractors are a must have.  My tractor has regular clutch and gears.  Ground speed in low gear is too fast for grinder. My Neighbor's name is Steve Hult.  I am really glad I found this grinder on the internet.  Extremely well designed and made.  Haven't broken a tooth yet and they are still sharp after approx. 100 stumps Richard Jacobson

Hi Lori, I am enjoying using my Woodland Mills Stump Grinder. At first we had issues, but quickly figured out that the drive shaft was too short with our large tractor. Called customer service and a longer one was on it’s way immediately. Now we have no complaints at all! We had to take down about 300 dead Ponderosa Pines on our property. This is a big help in the clean up. Richard

Just wanted to write a quick review. Could not have been happier with my WG-24 stump grinder. I finished mounting it on my Kubota 2150 tractor. I had 2 oak stumps about 2ft across in the back yard of my cabin that were bugging me. I considered buying a stump grinder for my Bobcat T190 but I like being married so I decided against that $6K+ even used.   The WG24 chewed through the stumps even though the tractor was at the low end of the recommended range. I also have a Kubota 5100 (50HP) I cant wait to try it on clearing out my trails on my land.   One other idea I have is to use the WG24 with my Bobcat on the hydraulic 3pt PTO attachment I bought from a guy, It has a cushioned hydraulic motor that runs off the bobcat front hydraulic attachment system. It will be fantastic if it works if anyone has such attachment please let me know if it works. It would be nice not to have to kink my neck looking back. I liked the idea of the back-up camera someone else posted.   Bottom Line- The WG24 worked better than expected even with low HP easy to install ran great fantastic construction and bullet proof packaging for shipping. Delivered on time.

If you have any stumps don't pay the high prices that big companies charge, buy one and you can do it on your own and even make a few bucks on the side.  ( I do in the Lombardi ON area) The stump grinder is easy to hook up and easy to run.

Hi Lori I couldn't be happier with the stump grinder. It's everything I hoped it would be. So far I have grinded over 40 trees on my property ranging in diameter from 6" to 38". I had a long row of silver willows that I wanted to get rid of and this did the job perfectly I set it up on my Kabota BX2360. It worked hard but worked great.

Hi Lori, I do have a lot of work for the grinder and it works really well. I'm very happy. Those are called Arika palms they grow into clumps of multiple trees and when they seed they will sprout the seeds also and spread out even wider. They are very soft and very fibrous and hold lots of moisture. When i'm grind this type of tree stump I have to climb off the tractor about five time to rake the mulch away so i can see whats left of the stump. Its like raking wet concrete. I also do Coconut palms they are very soft and not quite as fibrous with cocos you get more of a powder mulch. Aloha, Gerard

Purchased the WG24 stump grinder and extremely satisfied with its performance. I wish I purchased it years ago. Using it on my Kubota B3200 and even though its a smaller tractor it works perfectly. Ordered on a Friday and arrived in 6 days ... very nicely shipped and actually used the steel shipping crate and made a work bench out of it (nice bonus). Grinds stumps much faster than expected and the build quality is outstanding. The only drawback is now every neighbor has a stump to remove but now I'm invited to all the cookouts. Well worth the money... Thanks!

Hi Lori, Here are some before and after pictures of my back yard. I have chewed up hundreds of stumps on my property to date without a single problem. The transformation was accomplished with a chainsaw and the WM24 Stump Grinder on a 25 HP Compact tractor. Hello, Just wanted to say that I finally had a chance to try my stump grinder today.  It arrived earlier this month just in time for snow and ice to be on the ground....and deer season opener was just a few days off. I went into the woods today with the grinder to give it a trial run.  We recently had this land selectively timbered and so the resulting logging trails were cluttered with stumps.  We wanted to keep these new trails open using a rotary cutter but couldn't because of the stumps.  Hence, the reason for getting your stump grinder.   I have a Massey Furguson 1529, rated at 28+ hp from the engine and 23+ hp from the PTO.  Today's stumps were a mix of poplar and oak, typical of what we have on our property along with spruce, pine, and basswood.   First impressions....it worked well.  It zipped through the poplar without hesitation.  I had to take thinner cuts when on the oak but it did a good job on that.  I would say that my 3 cylinder diesel tractor is at the minimum HP rating for doing hardwood.  It is hydrostatic drive and that certainly made all the difference in the world.  One last thing I quickly noticed....adjusting the lower links so there was no side to side movement of the 3 point hitch provides the stump grinder with a more stable platform to work from. I've attached a couple of pics I took today in the woods.  I'll gladly take you up on that hat offer in camo if possible.   Good day, Stu

The pictures show only 1/2 of the area we are clearing. We have ground hundreds of stumps so far with many more to go. I could have a full time job easily if I wanted to, but limit it to a few close friends. My only difficulties come from the rocky ground in this area. In spite of the rocks the stump goring has performed admirably. Definitely a 5 star rating. This machine has exceeded all my expectations. Jim
