Within our vibrant community of Woodland Mills product owners are some of the most imaginative and skilled individuals. Witnessing your creations is a source of immense joy for us. In the year 2023, a multitude of exceptional projects unfolded, showcasing a diverse array of creativity and innovation, making the task of selecting just a handful quite challenging. Without further ado, here are 10 exceptional projects crafted by our customers using one of our Woodland Mills Portable Sawmills.

Bathtub Bliss

Edward had fun making Christmas gifts for his shop this past holiday season. These tub caddies are both beautiful and functional with a spot to hold your cell phone, a snack, or a good book. He made them from maple, spalted maple, birch, and cherry wood - all milled on his HM126 portable sawmill. Finished off with food-safe epoxy, it's no wonder these sold so well online.

Enhancing Entrance

This past summer, Rex built himself this unique swinging gate out of lumber milled on his HM130 portable sawmill. The door and window details on the front give this gate a whimsical feel and the dark colour is courtesy of a mixture of motor oil and diesel fuel. He plans on building a fence to match in the future.

Terrific Tot's Toy

When Donovan's wife suggested he make a mud kitchen for their grandkids, he headed straight to his HM126 portable sawmill. This tiny kitchen is made from hickory and will be the source of much enjoyment and many delicious mud pies.

Fresh Air and Food Prep

Speaking of outdoor kitchens, Rhonda and her family use theirs year-round for cooking and canning. They did some beautiful stonework for the cooking area and oven and all of the lumber was milled on their HM126 portable sawmill. Every bit of the tree is used, including the cutoffs which are used to fuel the stoves.

Timber Tunes

Colin milled every stick of this guitar on his HM130MAX portable sawmill. Having made a few guitar bodies before, this is the first one completed with a neck that he built himself. The dark walnut fretboard really pops when paired with the oak face and neck. This is a true thing of beauty that Colin is sure to cherish for years to come.

From Cookies to Company

Entertaining has never been more stunning. Karlos milled some spalted birch cookies on his HM126 portable sawmill and transformed them into this charcuterie board set. The large main platter has six matching handheld boards that even have a spot to hold your wine glass.

Crafter's Cribbage

Spence decided to make some gifts from the heart this year. Using his HM126 portable sawmill he milled up some lumber and made cribbage boards. Once milled, the beautiful grain of the yew wood comes to life, making each board completely unique.

Art by Aaron

Although it might look like these pieces of art are painted, it might surprise you to learn that the only thing used on this wood is a clear gloss. Aaron uses the natural colours of the wood to create his masterpieces. After sourcing exotic lumber from local sawmills and milling the rest on his HM126 portable sawmill, Aaron uses his scroll saw to cut out each piece that he needs and then carefully fits them together like a puzzle. Each piece of art has a variety of wood types including yellowheart, ebony, poplar, aspen, and others. Aaron proudly displays and sells his art at the Turnbach Farm Art Decor shop.

A Timber Table

This 8' x 40" table is the perfect addition to Ted's dining room. Made from aspen logs that he milled on his HM130MAX portable sawmill, the attention to detail is where this table shines. The live edge is beautiful especially when paired with the inlaid bowties and stripping that are all done in walnut.

Greenhouse with Green Lumber

Victor built this adorable greenhouse for his wife. After milling some spruce on his HM126 portable sawmill, he did not need to wait for the lumber to completely dry before building. Putting it up with green lumber caused no issues since it was out in the sun and he kept the plexiglass windows open at first. Now they can enjoy fresh veggies year round.

Every year, witnessing the incredible projects shared within our community of sawyers is nothing short of amazing. The passion, support, and exchange of ideas among our esteemed Woodland Mills owners are truly inspiring. We eagerly anticipate the creative endeavours you'll unveil in 2024!
