Far From the Box Stores? Bradley has a Solution
Living in the Country Has Its Trade-offs
Living in the country has its perks: wide open space, quiet nights, and views you just don’t get in town. But for Bradley, one downside kept coming up over and over again…access to lumber.
The closest big-box lumber store is a 45-minute drive. Quick trips to the store weren’t all that quick at all. When you need a board or two to finish something, losing an hour and a half just to pick up lumber gets old fast. While Bradley prefers to support local lumber yards, their hours overlapped with his work schedule, so getting there before closing just wasn’t realistic.
The Day Everything Changed
That frustration is what pushed him toward finding a solution once and for all. When his HM126 14 HP ground-mounted sawmill was set up, Bradley didn’t let the fact that they sun had set stop him from firing it up. By the glow of headlights, he made his first cut and that’s when everything changed.
Why Owning a Sawmill Made Sense; Lumber on Demand
Instead of planning trips to town, Bradley now has lumber available whenever he needs it. He’s got dozens of logs on hand and the freedom to mill exactly what his project needs, right when it calls for it. No waiting, no rushing to beat store hours, and no settling for whatever dimensions happen to be in stock.
Being able to mill on his own schedule, if inspiration hits late, it’s not a problem. He can fire up the mill and keep things moving. That kind of flexibility is hard to put a price on when you live outside of town.
Happy Camper All Around
Overall, Bradly has been happy with his HM126 and as a camo guy through and through, receiving a Woodland Mills camo hat after submitting a review was a nice bonus.
All in all, Bradley’s experience sums it up well: fewer trips to town, more time building, and the satisfaction of turning his own logs into usable lumber whenever he wants.
