An Afternoon with John from JD Woodworking and Designs

John started his woodworking business when he was just 13. Now, he has a Silver YouTube Creator award and hundreds of thousands of followers across all platforms.

What started it all?

John learned about his passion for woodworking in Grade 6, when he was assigned a project in which he decided to make an Adirondack chair from pallets. From there, John continued to learn woodworking by using a lathe his parents gifted him, then moved on to other things like his planters, bird feeders and charcuterie boards.

John started selling his creations at craft shows, where his business took off, and he was able to start focusing on custom projects instead.

Then, John took the leap and bought his HM126 Portable Sawmill.

How the mill changed everything.

For John, getting the mill meant giving himself more freedom to make whatever he dreamed of. It allowed him to have an unlimited supply of lumber for his projects, and to be able to offer a larger variety of creations.

From there, John expanded his collection by adding a Loglander 20 Log Arch,  a Multilander Trailer and an RS8 Blade Sharpener.

Check out our video from our visit with John where we take a look at his property and how he uses his equipment to run his woodworking business.

Thanks for the visit, John!
