FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about Woodland Mills ATV Trailers
Answers to these common questions may help you as you research which ATV dump trailer is best for you
An ATV trailer can be an incredibly useful piece of equipment for your property, helpful for hauling logs, soil, firewood and much more.
And you want a trailer with sufficient capacity and volume for your cargo, as well as one that can navigate even the toughest terrain.
So which ATV trailer is right for you? These frequently asked questions can help you find out.
Which Woodland Mills trailer is right for me?
It really comes down to the kind of work you do most often.
If your main job is hauling logs and timber, the Multilogger™ Logging Trailer is a dedicated, no-nonsense log hauler. It’s built specifically for gathering and transporting logs through wooded terrain, without the added features of a dump box or utility trailer.
If you want a trailer that can handle lots of different jobs, like hauling firewood, soil, and debris in addition to logs, the Multilander® Off-Road Utility Trailer gives you the most flexibility, with a reinforced dump box, dedicated winch and walking beam suspension for heavy off-road use.
If you’re looking for a simple utility trailer for general property work, the Pathlander™ is a lighter-duty option that’s great for everyday hauling tasks around your land.
All three are designed for off-road use and can be towed behind ATVs, UTVs, and compact tractors, the right choice depends on whether your priority is moving logs, all-around utility work, or basic hauling.

What makes Woodland Mills trailers different?
Like all Woodland Mills equipment, our trailers went through years of field testing and R&D before launch. They’re built tough, with heavy-duty laminated twin rail chassis and purpose-built designs tailored to the job, whether that’s hauling logs or handling utility and dumping tasks.
Designed for off-road use, these trailers are made to handle rough terrain and all kinds of jobs around your property. Whether you're moving timber, hauling firewood, or carrying tools and debris, they’re built to take it - and then some.
Are Woodland Mills trailers designed for off-road use only?
Yes. They’re built specifically for off-road use and not intended for highway or road travel. We know a lot of our customers - whether they’re hunters, off-gridders, or just working deep in the bush - need trailers that can handle tough terrain. That’s why both of our trailers come equipped with off-road tires and are engineered to perform in rugged conditions.
They also feature a pivoting ball hitch, so your trailer and tow vehicle can move independently over uneven ground. And if you go with the Multilogger, it includes a tandem walking beam suspension, which keeps all four wheels on the ground for better stability in rough terrain.
Like all our products, these trailers have been through years of refinement and real-world testing and shaped by feedback from customers who put them to work in all kinds of conditions.
What accessories should I get for the trailer?
It depends on how you plan to use your trailer.
If you’re hauling loose material in the Pathlander™ or Multilander®, the cover is a great add-on. It helps keep loads contained and protected, especially when you’re navigating rough terrain.
If you’re moving equipment around your property, the Off-Road ATV Trailer Hitch Kit lets you tow a wood chipper, log splitter, or any other hitch-compatible machine behind your Pathlander™ or Multilander®, so you can bring more gear with you in one trip.
And if you’re using your trailer for logging work, the ATV Trailer Chainsaw Holder is a great upgrade. It mounts to the front guard and gives you a safe, secure place to carry your chainsaw while you’re gathering and hauling logs, keeping it protected and within easy reach when you need it.
And if you’re working in winter conditions, the Ski Conversion Kit replaces the wheels with skis, helping your trailer glide over snow and making it easier to move loads when trails are covered or frozen.

How long does it take to assemble each trailer?
Assembly usually takes about two to three hours. Everything’s clearly laid out in the manual, and you’ll just need some basic hand tools to get the job done. Once it's together, you’ll be ready to put it to work hauling, dumping, and handling whatever your land throws at it.
Note: Your manual is included in the crate and can also be viewed in PDF format here.
Why does the Multilander® come with a winch lift and not hydraulics?
It really comes down to simplicity and cost savings. After a lot of testing, our engineers found that a winch system was the most efficient, reliable, and budget-friendly way to lift heavy loads - up to 2,000 lbs - without overcomplicating the trailer.
The winch is easy to use, gets the job done safely, and helps keep the Multilander® more affordable while still delivering the performance you need to haul and dump just about anything, anywhere.
How long and how heavy of logs can the Multilogger™ carry?
The Multilogger™ is rated to haul up to 2,000 lb (900 kg). With the telescopic tongue set in its shortest position, it’s ready for logs around 10 feet long. Extend the tongue, and it can accommodate logs up to 16 feet in length.
The logging rack can also be repositioned along the twin-rail chassis, allowing you to safely carry shorter logs down to about 5 feet long while keeping the load balanced over the axles.

What are the best ATV trailers for hauling firewood, wood chips or dirt on rough terrain?
If you’re hauling gear, tools, or material across rough ground, the Pathlander is built for that kind of work.
With a 1,000 lb payload capacity, it handles everything from firewood and tools to dirt and debris. It’s compact enough to move through tighter trails, but still tough enough to handle mud, uneven ground, and off-road conditions.
Features like the pivoting hitch help the trailer move with your ATV over rough terrain instead of working against it.
It also includes removable tailgates, so you can carry longer material when needed. If you’re dealing with heavier loads, the optional two-speed winch kit can help lift and dump material more easily.
If your needs grow or you find yourself hauling heavier loads more often, stepping up to a higher-capacity model like the Multilander (2,000 lb payload) may be worth considering.
What size ATV trailer do I need to tow logs, rocks, and debris on my property?
If you intend to haul rocks and big, heavy-duty loads hen you may want to choose the Multilander ATV dump trailer.
This high capacity ATV dump trailer can reliably carry up to 2,000 lbs and get it to its destination safely, and it's reliable suspension system ensures a smooth ride where the tires work to stay on the ground. It also features a 2,500 lb winch capacity, so even if you max out the trailer you can still lift and dump your cargo anywhere you need. This is an excellent off-road ATV trailer for loggers, forestry professionals or woodlot owners who need to travel deep into the bush, or for landscapers taking paving stones or hauling in dirt to remote properties. The folding side panels and ramps for loading logs make it an excellent choice for removing trees or hauling logs to your portable sawmill setup.
The best dump trailer is one that gets you from point A to point B safely and with minimal hassle, including loading and unloading, so look for the model that's easiest for your intended cargo.

What should I look for when buying an off-road ATV trailer for navigating challenging trails?
Features like capacity, dumping method, suspension system and durability are all key things you should look out for when considering an off-road ATV trailer.
-
-
For capacity, estimate the average weight of cargo you intend to haul, and pick a trailer that can meet or exceed that weight in payload capacity.
-
Look at how to load or unload the dump trailer. If you're hauling logs, the Multilander has folding side panels as well as a winch and ramp to easily lift logs onto the trailer bed. The winch is also used for lifting and dumping the bed, great for quickly unloading firewood or soil.
-
Price is also a consideration, so look for a model that most easily carries your intended cargo and fits within your budget.
-
All Woodland Mills off-road ATV trailers, including the Pathlander, Multilander and Multilogger are made from heavy-duty materials and utilize durable multi-ply tires that make off-roading easy. Whether you're looking at the Pathlander for hauling dirt and debris, the Multilander for heavy-duty cargo or the Multilogger for an ideal log-hauling trailer, there are great options available for you.
Which ATV trailers come with a reliable dumping mechanism for gravel, soil, and mulch?
For the money the Multilander ATV dump trailer is an ideal model for landowners looking to easily load and dump gravel, firewood or any other heavy loads across their land.
The winch that comes with the Multilander has a 2,500 lb capacity, capable of lifting cargo even if it maxes out the trailer. The synthetic rope is durable and can withstand high pressure loads, and its smooth action ensures you can easily raise and lift the trailer bed. While the winch comes standard with the Multilander, you can also get it separately for the Pathlander. This can be a great setup if you want a smaller off-road ATV trailer but still want the ability to safely haul and dump cargo across your property. Whether you're dumping a load of dry wood chips or a heavy trailer full of gravel, you can feel confident that the winch will do most of the work to get your cargo safely to its destination.
